tuna fish, i just checked the weather for sat, and it looks good. stable pressure through most of the day, wind at about 20km/h, day warming up rapidly to about 20 deg. a bit of cloud in the morning, but clear most of the day. all in all looks good for a spot of whaling. i'll be there as usual from dawn til dusk, lol. pop in if u keen

Its in the Leeukop prison, in the sunning hill area. I can not remember the roads name but if you can find your way to the prison your are on the right track. There are plenty barbel there and some yellows.Drive through the gate and you will see the river on your left hand side, many pools and riffels.

I was locked up there for many years - just joking!
If my understanding is correct I enter through the gate at the prison and then park and go fish? Can anyone go there?

Pretty much ,you sign in and off you go , iwas there last about 5 years ago when i still lived up there. If you take the time to drive around you also find some dams that are stocked with carp and sea lions ....monster barbel but there are signs say no fishing ......no one ever stopped me so give it a go.

hey kitefisher, i see you are in welkom. im a born and bred welkom boy, hahaha. you should give freddies dam a bash if you can get permission, and also the water treatment plant opposite flamingo vlei. the sand river also has a good head of trout, and ive heard stories of yellows there as well......not sure if its true, but wouldnt hurt to try :) some great fun is corrobrick dams for bass and some MONSTER grass carp, and also good old klip-pan for barbel and carp. flamingo pan itself is not what it used to be, but im sure theres some steroid enhanced golden kings still swimming about. what about the dam at lakeside? and the waters at the slime dams on the way out past st andrews?

I'm a Virginia Boy and fish a lot in the Sand river I can asure you their is no trout in the Sand river,their is a lot of bass and nice once up to 5kg but they don't com out that often.Their are yellows in the river but very scare.I do get Carp on fly at Klippan that is fun,but if I want Yellows I go to wag 'n bietjie ( vaal ) that is the best place with big Yellows smallmouths up to 5kg and Largemouth's up to 9kg.

Ek sien daar vorm nou sommer skielik eilande in die pan!

Ek het nog geen bass daar gesien nie ek was 'n in Maart laas by die dam en weet nie van die eiland wat vorm nie ek vang gewoonlik van 'n boot af daar maar van 'n eiland weet ek nie.

Was laas week daar. By die riool werke was 'n stukkie skoongemaakte wal. Die eiland (riette) het reg voor daai stukkie uitgekom. Nou's dit nag...
