Went out on Obsession with Dave Christie from Hout Bay yesterday.
6 Yellow Fin and lots of Long Fin… what an experience.
Body feels broken this morning but will certainly go again
and definitely recommend Dave and TOSF…

well done carl, glad you had a great day out there!

quick question, i know you were on a charter so dont expect you to know your postion, but im pretty sure you were in the area the fish have been past few weeks,on the inside on baitballs, fish feeding on the surface, etc.

What i want to ask, you got fish on the troll, but did you stop and bait and actually pick some of these yellows on the bait or only longfin on the bait?

Thanks

FishEx, we've had some that marked under the boat while a troll yellow was being brought in.
We chum anyway when we get a strike with a fish on.
If he comes through, bait goes in.
Caught a couple like that on last couple of trips.
But then generally the baitballs are not as thick.
All same area.

Hi FishExecutnr,

You quite right I'm not sure of where we were exactly but skipper mentioned 30 miles out of Hout Bay..

As Kraken has commented we caught Yellow and Long on the troll and as soon as we got a hook up we chummed the area and then also caught on bait (Yellow fin and Long fin) and we threw some spinners and caught long fin on spinner. My one mate even caught one Long fin on a pole while we were bringing in the other fish... It was all VERY exciting when we got a hook up.

On the run back in we spotted birds feeding (quite close in +/- 11miles out) and a huge shole of Yellows and Long fin surface feeding and jumping out of the water. We got the rods in again and tried a few troll's but had no hook ups. They were feeding on Anchovy and woudn't take our lures. If we weren't on the way back in I'm sure we might have gotten some more fish if we changed to a smaller lure. Still a hectic day of fishing and I Loved it...
