I don't make lures. But I hang around this subforum because I am in awe of the skills of the guys who make their own stuff, and then go out and catch fish with them.

And this is the whole point in my opinion. Who cares where they are for sale? This is not the forum for it after all. And I quote from Admin's sticky "DIY SUBFORUM pirinciples":

The DIY Subforum was initiated in response to Private individuals and hobbyists, who requested a discussion group where they could throw their innovations and ideas around.
It was never our intention to allow it to be used as a showcase for Commercial luremakers.

Hi Guys,

You know what I would find usefull, if there were a few freshwater versions (carp, bream etc.) In the pumkinseed style lure for catfish...it would work awesome with a "calling stick" and the lures are probably quite durable! What do you guys think?

I need to apologize to all the guys who asked me how my lures swim.

 

I took them all down to the ocean, got on a boat and went out.

They didn't swim. NOT ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I threw them in the water and they just laid there.

Busy on a motorized version now. Hopefully I'll get them to work like yours.

Thanks to everyone for 15 minutes of distraction can't wait for Binneland tonight:)

It seems to me that only a couple of beers will sort out this spat. After 10 Windhoeks and a few brandies and whiskeys even the most wonkey lure will be swimming dead straight!

I would suggest that everyone takes a chill pill and as suggested by Simen and provide credit where it is due and respect that questions are asked in good faith.

One thing I realised is that when craftsman discuss things they often fail to mention the 99% that is right and focus on the 1% that they believe can be improved.

I can assure you that somewhere in Maranello there is a Ferrari engineer who looks at the new California and is not happy with the slope of the roof. Does this mean that it is worse than an Uno - NO - he just looks at it with different eyes.

Thats why I've given up on weightless fishing, I stick some tungsten to my rigs, that way at least they sink, dunno if that counts for anything, but at least my lures move..... ::S

Forget the motors I say, stick them with some lead ::jest

Great Lures!!!!! And lets face it, whether if they swim or not, I'd still showcase them in my house.

Passion, skill, determination.....achievement. Thanks for sharing sir!!

Someone here was talking about moulding.

Here's how the non swimmers come out of a mould.

Wired and ready for paint. No sanding, filing or prep.

Incredible the way they come out of the mould.

It seems to me time saving and more control on the final result.
