Mussel Cracker

If it is size and your first one, keep it and eat it. If you like the taste, keep as many as you like as long as you stick to the bag and size limits. I have a couple of favourite species that I would take home for the pot (when I feel like it), the rest go back.

I dont eat fish but they say the big ones are dry and not as good eating as the smaller chappies! I would think anything over 10kgs not to nice to eat, the ones that are just size (60-80cm) are better eating!

Roland, normally all the guys that get cracker with me keep atleast 1 fish once in a while!! Some guys take 2, wont mention names here!:fbash

Roland, some of the best cracker waters is right on your doorstep. A friend of mine, a Vaalie moved to J-bay in 2007 and he caught more crackers than I would caught in a lifetime. He used Armidillo as bait, taken out right in front of your fishing spot at Walskipper, low tide, to the left. I wish I could post all his cracker photos, but I will try to post a couple. Spot: Street & parking right in front of Kospot. Cast right in line with the top of the wooden stairs going down to the beach. You will see a nice gully between 2 rocky areas on low tide.

Last one, same spot. That should get you going. Sssshhhh, dont tell the others. Keep one, put the rest back, I must still catch my first one. Early mornings, sunrise, the best.

you cut out the fleshy part underneath, the hard chitonous plates are just a shell, you can either cut it up into pieces like a sostie on the hook or thread it whole on the hook, and lots of okes like mixing fresh red bait with it
