Moving to West Coast, Shelly point.

New to saltwater angling off West Coast, and need advice on what boat is suited for St Helena bay and general surrounds.
Interested in the odd (good weather) deep sea trip for Tuna, but generally will not venture too far out.

Stonechamp - nice move. We have our beach house at Britannia Bay just off Golden Mile and it's an amazing place. (Spend as much time as possible at BB - at least once per month)

Drop me a PM with your contact details and we can chat. Regarding the boat, many options depending on what you want to go for. Good close in fishing for Hotties etc. on the close in places (Shelley Point, Britannia Reef etc.) further out at North Blinder, 6NM due North and much more.

Cheers, RB

RB, what do think about a SkiVee 500 sport? Too small for the far-away tuna?
Fishing is not the only objective, family and friends out on the Bay and around to Paternoster is also part of the agenda.

Hallo Stonechamp en welkom by Sealine!

Ek self gaan Weskus toe, so sal mekaar leer ken   :)

Groetnis

The best boat in the Cape is as thika said, the Cape Craft normally used by snoek commercials. For some silly reason a cat has not taken off here, just tradition I suppose. Our friend Gerhard, you can find him here on Sealine as Kwando, bought my 520 Supercat and he often goes out to the blue waters some 60km from Langebaan to get those big Tuna.Contact him and join him,I know he would welcome it.I would go for a 18 ft cat eg Supercat,in my book the best there is for our conditions. This is a sport boat, but if you really want to focus on fishing, more than just a joy ride, then a Cape Craft is the answer.

1st of all WELCOME to Sealine and to the Weskus...you going to have a jol,the waters around the Weskus are great just ask Royboy,he knows and has fished with me before,if you want to venture out to the big deep blue and make a turn around Paternoster then read the water well before going out it can and does just pick up...this has happened before that many a boat has seen the Davey Jones locker...so make a good choice in what you buy,I cant say what to get as I am more into the Rock n Surf fishing thing..but good luck and I hope your choice of boat is a good and safe one..

Afwerking is baie netjies.....baie dekspasie. Gemaklike boot, idiaal vir charters, plesier of kommersieel Ongelooflike goeie see bote en baie ligter op brandstof.... bv 'n 28ft capie het 2 x 200hp nodig, waar die 30ft butt met 2 x 150's sommer baie woema het.Sou hul 23 ft model aanbeveel as jy so af en toe wil tuna vang. Ekt 'n 33ft butt met 2 x 200 en brandstof is gemiddeld 3l / nm...........waar die 28ft capie met 2 x 200 gemiddeld 4l /nm. 'n Ander opsie is 'n ocean runner....... baie dieselfde as 'n capie, effens wyer. Hul afwerking is stukke beter asook hul turnaround times.  My 2 sent se waarde......

Ido not know if Cape Craft still manufacture with Cabin, the one I used to fish on had a Cabin, nice for the family to stay dry, it was a 24ft with 2x90 Yamahas.
