Hallo buds,
my name is Dirk, me and my wife are planning to move to South Africa near Port Elisabeth
in not-so-far future.
I am 44 years old and I fish since I am 12 years old, freshwater fishing with natural baits in natural lakes, rivers and canals in North Germany around the town of Hamburg.
I am an active member of a fishing club for more than 20 years now.
Most of my worries about moving is the fishing opportunites in South Africa:fishn , but my wife told me there a lot's of opportunities to fish there (she lived in ZA for a few years before).
Thanks for the internet, I already found some pictures of fish species of South Africa, and I am glad to see that many of them are similar or even the same as the species living in german rivers and lakes.
But, first of all, I'd like to know about the fishing laws and regulations of South Africa,
do I need to examine a test to get a license and permit (as I had to do here in Germany),
or is it as simple as in Denmark or Ireland , where you just go to a post office to simply buy a licence ?
Also I hope to get to know some buds so I won't have to go fishing all alone
Best regards
Dirk
