We arrived here Sat. morning and got the tent and camp ready. Sat afternoon went out and soon was on with a couta (5kg ) Tried to chase down some feeding birds but had to quit and beach as the laaitie got green. Once beached and i saw the laaitie will be ok. then decided to launch again and just pull some lures with no luck.( and the birds were gone) fed the laaitie Sturgeon the evening
Sun. Early morning 04:00 got up and packed everything 05:00 was launched and on the water kitted and baited up behind backline and paddled of to our fishing spot Soon the laaities rod bend and his eyes went big like saucers ( first time kayak fishing) and the fight was on to my surprise and after about 20 mins he landed his first fish a nice yellowfin tuna of about 6kg. Baited and of we went stayed quite for about an hour untill we saw the birds again got the flickstick ready and started the chase it was absolutely crazy tuna and bonnies everywhere. got a on with a nice yellofin during the fight the laaite yelled that he is on aswell, when i saw the fish at last under the boat i also saw the taxman lurking underneath in an effort to get away the tuna made a run and came of the hook. the shark saw me and moved off.with my spoon still in the water another yellofin grabbed it an on again ( its all happened in lke a second ) exited and adrennalin pumping i had to land it qiuck before getting taxed. well i landed it a nice yellowfin of 12 kg. The laaitie lost his. had a drink baited up and chased down the birds again got to them flickstick out with a spoon and bang on. This is exciting fishing right there a nice big bonnie what a fight. went back to our spot where the laaitie got another couta of 5 kg and i got a nice kakaap
Sun aftenoon the laaitie was tired of chasing the birds( not that type real ones) and decided to stay at camp so i launched and drifted south a bit very quite no birds and the water temp had dropped so on the drift all of a sudden zzzzzzz like crazy then nothing i thoought it came off then it rocketed off again like mad got the rod out an went on a sleigh ride without stopping it went and went sitting deep. not comming up after about 20 mins i got to win some line slowly winning and some more runs i saw it a beaty of a couta. it may not be so big but it is my personal best 16 kg on the scale i was very stoked . later had a run in with the real jaws a shark the length and with of my boat came to eyball me and investigate so a bit shaken i got off the water. happy with a great days fishing
Monday morning For some reason no one launched it was absolutely a great weather morning. so i decided to load the skis and do a drive to Ponta dobela the wind came up and conditions was very bad but still launched. 20 mins in the laaitie got green again so i paddled him to the beach ans saw that he got out. i turned and heading out in 15m of water zzzzzzz with big swell and rough seas i got another big couta of 11kg. makes all the effort worthwhile.
Tue. morning conditions are very windy and rough seas at present so time to take stock fix traces clean the ski and get ready for the next launch.
