I have a little Daiwa Coastal 153H saltwater baitcaster,(sadly now discontinued), that I bought for grunter fishing and that a lot of guys used to use for tigerfish in the Delta - this little reel can be casted with only the centrfg and set quite lightly, as long as you cast it with 38oz or heavier, but go lighter and you have to really fiddle between the different settings on it's cntrfg cast control and the conventional spool tension knob, to set it up for effective casting !

Ok, so, now we try t....?...?.?

Throwing half a sardine or pencil bait is no problem, the weight is there, now, would you believe me if i told you that the length of my hook/sinker trace affects the cast dramatically with these little reels....it really does&?

I dont know how to explain it, but it was evident in throwing with my exage 100m(shorten the trace and drop and it was ok) too! I dont have the scientific brain to explain or figure out, but there is something i think with the rod action thats playing here. On many occasion i had to shorten the leaders to get the cast out there.....im thinking the center of gravities is playing a part. Now working with center of gravities is my job and what im trained to do,but not going into this one!....lol

Why does shortening the drop, sinker below hook trace cast better? Im not so sure aerodynamics is the sole answer anymore.

Rod loading, trace length, cog, we getting there slowly and im bored.....
