Howzit boet.

DO NOT BUY THE ASSASSIN BLADE OR HMG....

3 members of our club have the assassin range and I've seen 2 break within a span of 2 weeks. Both broke on casting.

If you looking to buy a rod, check out the purglass range (400/2 or 400/3) or evens the WAFT (420/ series). I fish with both these rods and they excellent value for money.

I've got a 3 piece pentagon 700+1 HMG. It is amazing. But is a pretty specific weapon for large non-eds. The thing with HMG is that it is very brittle and is prone to breaking. Most good HMG ods come with a lifetime guarentee.....as long as you don't stand on it or close it in the door or something stupid. :fswim

If you lookin for a 3 piece for sharks go with the posoiden magnum. We have measured casting distances of over 170m with this rod. However, if you go on to a big fish this rod will really mess your back up.

My rod for non eds is a purglas 350/5. It has excellent pulling power and being a 13 foot it saves ur back. This is a one piece though and not as portable as the posoiden.

all rods break, it's the customer service policy that makes the diffence. by this i mean any brand of rod can break. i rate the assassins high, i have two of them and i have a waft iron feather which i use for scrathing for stumpies and bream etc. i dont know what your budget is but i cant say that there really is a shit rod on the market. the poseidon  magnum blank custom will do the trick if you want a quality rod on a budget.

Last night i met the guy from the uk who designs century fishing rods.....the prople who make the iron feather...

He gave me the whole history about how the design came about but to cut a long story short. This rod has been tested throwing 17 ounces.......yes 17 ounces!!!

I thought the WAFT's were locally manufactured - Western Accessories Fishing Tackle, using the Blue Marlin HMG blanks??? Am I wrong here?

the waft is great, but you must remember that it feels totally different when you are casting and playing a fish. my only gripe is that they only come in two piece. i have the muscle cracker tip on mine and feels a bit soft, so i will be ordering me a shark tip. the iron feather blanks are made in the uk, the cheaper wafts are made locally. ps the iron feather blanks cannot be made locally we dont have the rolling machines required to roll the blanks on the mandrel. the rolling pressure alone exceeds the pressures our autoclaves produce. you must check out century's quality control. all their materials that go into these blanks are aerospace quality. i crap you not. these people actually build components for jets and stuff. if one has to be made locally i think denel can help you out. probably cost R10 000 for one.

scorpion thanks boet im hearing alot of nice things on the iron feather, but they are little out of my budget at the moment. hopfully in the near future it will be mine!!!!

thanks
