from what ive heard they cannot make these rods 3 piece, because it would not have the same action required for casting:cool:

i got a std blade, the hmg is way to stiff. my blade and beachmaster was made by basil manning's. the 3 piece hmg rods break on the tip joint or on the tip itself because of sand. it cause's a stress fracture. it progressively becomes weaker till it breaks. always clean your rod joints. the std graphite is not as brittle so you have less breakages.

Yep Scorps is right- BManning maintains that the vast majority of breakages are because of debris in the joint, or not seating the male properly into the female - this weakens the female part very quickly, then either splits or breaks clean.

is that dean pretorius rat?ya i agree with scorpian that it chips the rod away, and even 1 bump could end up in a disaster.you cant fish with these expensive rods when da owes are pulling shad cos they bump your rod to much.dats why i use da cheap elbe when fishing amongst da crowd with live shad and when i go transkei i use da exage and pentagon.

ja it is , i think the whole thing is that u have to look after ur tools in order for them to perform properly. i pushing more towards the posseidon magnum cause i got a posseidon 5 piece and have fallen at ladder rocks and hit the rod on the rocks and its fallen off the car while turning the corner ($#!t sucker cups!!) so ja its quite a tuff rod.

rat!!

hey guys just got back from basil manning at gateway(gone fishing)spoke to a couple of guys regarding the assasin hmg rods. according to them there is no equal rod that comes close to the assasin hmg be it the blade, med or heavy hmg>

the main reason for the tips breaking is that when you trow with a hmg you have to have a smooth action, as soon as you flik the tip it breaks 7 out of 1o times.

has anyone heard of this before,

just my 2 cents comment

Ashraf its seems they running out off excuses for the poor workmenship! Wat next, they gonna say we catchin too big fish? Gees! Here's my comment to the salesmen who uttered that nonsense..."u can paint ure shit any colour you want but it still stinks!"

i agree, a mate of mine made the mistake of purchasing a custom assassin from basil manning and i think it was his first time out the tip broke, their excuse was the binding might have been too tight ?? i wonder how many excuses they actually have in the bank???

why my mate was dumb enough to buy down there when we have a perfectly good rod builder/specialist shops here in CT is beyond me :(  :(  :(

Just bought a copy of the May ESA, they have a right up on the Waft range. Worth reading.

Howzit guys

I've bought the WAFT Mako Shark (420/8) about 3 weeks ago and what an amazing rod. I got the guys in the club to try and break it but with no success. It makes for excellent casting.

I think that the beachmaster is crap. Mine broke in March. was a mission getting it replaced. My bro-in-laws broke last week exactly the same as mine. He was told by BM that the Beachmaster doesn't carry a gaurantee anymore. He has to buy a new piece.

@Mohammad what did the Waft cost?
