LOOKING for a DROPSHOT ROD,about 8ft.

I'm off to Breede in Feb,and looking for a D/Shot rod with some backbone.               

Will only use rod while at Breede,and then it's going to lay around at home.

Any ideas,suggestions or advice on Rods would be greatly appreciated.Cheers!

Daiwa Exeller 8" HFS.

I have a 7" MHFS, 8"HFS and a 9" XXHFS. I tend to use the 7" and 9" foot more often. But great rods and can definetely recommend them.

I would second Ignoblis's choice. The Daiwa Exeller 8" HFS is a very good rod and can cast up to 2oz. I usually prefer to throw a 1- 1.5 oz spoon with it. Or a lipless rattling lure

Would an Exceller 4000 with 14/20lb Fireline be a good combo to go with this 8' rod? I am also looking into buying a solid outfit to tackle some GT's at Banga Neck...

I've got the 8ft passionstick and really enjoy this rod. Pared up with the Exceler 3500 plus, 20lb braid. I don't think you would go wrong with this one, for drop shot… But I find the Exceler picks up a lot of sand & salt. After 4 days of long fishing stints, the reel almost seized up. I got wet often but I did not think I over did it.

Haven't used the Exceler rods though.

I have an Exceller 8" HFS and it's an excellent rod that is light but has a reasonably fast action and good backbone. Definitely my choice for big rivers and light rock & surf. I've paired mine with an Abu Cardinal 704LX and it's perfectly balanced.

I have pair the diawa rod with a diawa excellor 3000 plus and 30pd mustard ultrabraid. This might be too light a reel for big kingfish but it is perfectly balanced for my needs. I feel I could handle a yellowtail up 15kg and a 30kg+ cob. Because ultrabraid is so thin I have loaded 300m line on. I fish the 30pd as a 20pd line ie drag set at approx 7pd.

well this was the last prices that i could organize. i do know prices went up but you looking at like R20 or R30 more. i would say thats still cheap.

Walt i got my pasion stick (8ft heavy) from tuckers they were the cheapest in Cape Town and i tried everyone and every rod, The pasion stick came out tops. I paired mine with a slade 4000. If you not going to use the rod again you can lend mine instead of going and laying cash out.

Thanx,Brendon!Really Nice Gesture!I phoned Tuckers & their prices are good as you said.If you're out Sandvlei/Muizenburg side,I wouldn't mind having a throw with your Combo.Sounds like the type of Combo one can feel confident about catching anything with while dropshotting.Cheers!

Throws 1 ounce lures A MILE with mine.

Will this rod go nicely with a 4000 size reel? And 14/20lb braid? My friend bought one and it's a great rod!! 

I'm actually looking for a XH rod that would handle BIG GT's...
