Hi guys, i have heard that there is a device that is attached to ones reel. gives you the distance thrown . NAy info about it. Availability, cost, views. will it also measure tge amount of line wound in on a reel

Im not sure about attaching it to your reel but after you throw you can attach it to your rod thread the line through it and reel in.In this way you measure the distance thrown.Tackel centre have it i have had mine for years now.

Yes there is and its quite cheap to - clip it on to rod and wind the line around the wheel and wind up and measures the distance

however there are those that say this is inaccurate due to strech and bends in the line if its in the water given you a further distance than actually cast

i use it to detrmine the amount of line i put on a reel when replacing it

i think the make is bandit and i got mine by western accessories

I agree raggie but if you are practising on the field or on the beach then it will give you acurate measurements.what you do is cast then take up the slack the attch the devise and proceed to reel in the line.

Shot guys, you guys are like online consultants, Imagine the luxuary getting resoinses withinminutes. Rymos how much does it cost. Any idea. if i use that i could colorthe line every hundred meters or so to get an idea of whats on the reel, Thanks guys

I agree Rymios thats why i bought mine - to get an idea of the distance as well aslearn to judge distances better and to measure the amount of line i replace on my reels. I think i paid under R100

There are two line counters on the market......one goes for around R400 (can't remember the brand)......I bought the other one a few weeks ago for R99......it has no brand name and just has a picture of the counter on the box......it does the job perfectly!! Ive been using these for years and they make all the difference wjen putting braid and line onto a reel!!
