Jigging and Popping Trace

Hi guys...

Started preparing the weapons of mass destruction and was wondering what would be the best way to rig up....?! Ok Im running 80lg braid to my 6m-1mm lead line.

Should I attach a power clip that would attach directly to the popper...or should i have a 1m fluorocarbon tied to the popper (which knot?) and then to a power swivel (fig 8knot) and then attach that to the power clip on the main leader...?!

If i am using piano wire for fish with teath how would i set that up...?!

Hoods - Sorry bro, Tkei is right.. I'm in shytehole London, only back on the 30th... not much time so will have to get back to ya perhaps over the weekend....

But I would look at going Leader to Solid ring, and then to Split ring onto the nose of the poppers.... same deal with Jigs....

I use a Uniknot connection with to turns through the ring, and using protective tubing helps a little too...

Poppers... attach straight to the leader. Or you can attach the leader to a Quality Power swivel (they cost upwards of R15 each and are rated 250lb++), which is then attached to a quality Split Ring, which enables quick change without knots...

You don't need Fluorocarbon for the poppers because with poppers, the leader is out the water most of the time, so it doesn't make any diffs....

Attach the leader to the Swivel with the standard Fig 8 knot that we use in R&S. The leader is attached to the mainline braid with a PR knot, or use a twisted leader or a wind-on leader.... You shouldn't use wire with poppers, it decreases the strike rate dramatically.

Ya bru, it's a small part... got some serious Wind-ons and Twisted leaders ready to go. Have increased the size of the guides on all my rods... countdown begins...

lol...tell me about only thing is i got like three weeks to go...

When do you guys come back...?! Ohh and did you change the guides on the Monster mesh as well...?! Might still be something i need to do...!

I got the Monster Mesh popping and jigging rods... had a cast with the Popping rod and just hate the sound of a PR knot going through the stupid little tip eye.... why is it that they make such high end rods with such pathetic guides on the end!!?? :swear Shees it makes me :headb. Upgraded all the rods I'm taking with to s16 Fugi's... will at least have peace of mind and confidence to rip a cast when I need to.

Nepps, where can one get a 8000 spool separately? I also have the 6000 and am looking for the larger spool. Thanks

B8fish- we can get them at MIAS here in JHB... Only problem is that they're over R2000 each....:?

did you see that the guy from the Hook, Line and Jeep show (Richard Eides) fishes with multipliers and nylon.... no braid....!? That Huge Dogtooth we talked about was caught and landed with flippin' nylon and a TN 50! All the theory straight out the window!:?

Was that doggie not on a TN50, with 100lb Suffix braid and a jigging stick. Just check it for me.
About that 8000 spool, I'll get back to you about a price from one of my "connections".

But on another thread INSIDE!! (Richard) talks of his standard setup as being a multiplier and nylon...!

I'm also looking for a 20000 spare spool... it fits the Stella 10000... so let me know bud. Also very interested...
