It was a Zambie that chowed the lifegaurd !

Yesterday's Herald (PE newspaper) says that the lifegaurd was chowed by a Zambezi. This was their conclusion after the investigation. I wonder if the Zambies got together and planned to make the news this week. Between Breede and Port St Johns, they have become a hot topic.

I bloody knew it!! I had serious doubts as to the Tiger shark story. Sounded like a Zambie from the word go, totally Zambie modus operandie.

I saw photos of the poor bugger after the attack, and the marks definately looked like Zambezi to me.

Most ironic of all, I had friends who were swimming on that exact same beach two weeks ago...no problems then, thankfully.

I had serious doubts about it being a Tiger Shark. As far as I know very few people get bitten by them, and the reason they have so many attacks to their name, is because of an unfortunate sinking of a ship during world war two, where a lot of the crew where bitten by Tiger Sharks.

Another shark that also took advantage of all these sinking ships was the oceanic white tip sharks, i have seen one or two off Cape Point and I dont want to be in the water when one of those buggers are around!!

J_Bay, it was die USS Indeanapolis or something to that extent. The oceanic white tip was named as the probably culprit.

Correct on the ship. However Japan deserved what it got, remember December 7th 1941? Yes, it is said the White Tip was to blame, but the documentary I saw mentioned Tiger sharks exclusively.

We had a similar event in our coastal history when the Birkenhead went down. If you get a chance you must read the story as documented by the few survivors.

We could start a quick history discussion, but up to the time the japs started giving the yanks some stick, the yanks were comfortably sitting back, AND selling raw materials and ammo to EVERYONE in the war, even senior H himself.
