Howzit guys, I did go and speak to them at Eikendal, and they say that they do have them in the dam, but with trout in there as well, netting at this time of the year would be a problem. I had a look at technopark as well. In the mean time, some Oreochromis andersonii or 3 spot tilapia became available as they were spawning flat out in our tanks. So what I did was substitute the israeli for the 3 spots in my trial, as it would speed up the process and the 3 spot is also well used in aquaculture. My study is now a growth comparison between the Nile, Mozambique and 3 spot in an aquaculture system called biofloc. I will run it in 250l tanks here on the university farm, so not in dams. The fish which I was wanting to catch would need to be used to spawn the 500 fingerlings that I would use in the trial. So about a month ago I managed to spawn the mozambique and the 3 spots and have got enough of them, the Nile I will most likely be importing from Thailand in the coming month or so.
Thanks for all the help and advise guys, I really appreciate it, and it made for some interesting reading!
