Guys

do please take note as this is a ongoing aspect!!!

when selling or buying, please do not use the cash send or e-wallet function.
eft or cash

there are obviously many ways to make sure that you reach the seller or buyer.
friends and family is never far away.

pictures of the seller buyer will not bring you far as you will never know if the guy is indeed the guy on the picture.
id book copies might work.

it is really sad to read from all of the guys who was taken for a ride.
especially on face book.
if a deal is too good to be true, rather leave it.

lucky for us, our pictures are not visible to teh outside world when selling.
so a guy needs to be a member to see it.
but not every one knows sealine.

do not hesitate to ask for assistance from fellow forum members
we need to look out for each other.

many aspects can be added to this page and please do so.

through investigation these guys will be caught.

Its a sad reality in today's age that you cant trust anybody.
If you pay for something either do it cash face to face or if you cant do that then pay into a bank account not any other means. You have to open a bank account with proof of residence and valid id(Also not fool proof) but other means of payment are just scams waiting to happen. If you ask for photos of the seller make sure you ask for something out of the ordinary eg. a photo of the person holding a pen and potato with the latest magazine also visible plus their id. Also not fool proof but it helps. Also for facebook check that the profile they are using is a valid profile if everything is hidden send them a friend request and see that its a active profile with recent posts and active friends. Most of these scammers don't have any friends and only have posts from the last couple of days.

Its sad to see people taken for a ride when it is very plausible but what scares me the most is when you see the posts of make money by only working 2 hours a day you will see 20 people send their email addresses and phone numbers you can see its a scam from 100 miles away but people still fall for it.

((goodp_

reminders of this is important.. someone i know thought they were paying R30 for something expensive from a well known cellphone / airtime provider in SA.. probably the biggest with yellow logo but turned out scammers used that to get to credit card details

next thing he knew purchases were being made in the UK.

ja no, had only good experiences with my few purchases on here.. Someone on the WWW..  trust with a pinch of salt..Remember the time I looked for a car on gumtree! some of those low mileage cars from nigerians with mismatching panel spacings..no sir no accident, 20000kms i promise! LOL..A little common sense goes a long way..

A good practice is to check the internet for ratings of a company...Like Hello Peter. Was checking a bakkie for sale on Gumtree , so Google the company and up came Hello Peter with a lot a negative practices by this company like turning back the clock of vehicles.

I have had super good sales / deals on SL + AU.

Watch out for Red Flags, such as bargains.... like real bargains ! Or when the person drops his price quickly !
