interesting CowSharK recapture

Morning guys
I got this little cow with a tag stuck in his backside, and within 2 days I got the recapture info back from Stuart.

That is interesting! Wow that's only 2cm in almost 2 years!
I don't see a picture, what was the length of the cow and where did you catch it? I'll risk a guess and say melkbaai?

My friend caught a cow 3 weeks ago at Hangklip. 8 Years free, tagged on the West Coast at Soverby, swam around 400km and grew 40cm which is about 40kg in the process. Grew from about 1.2m - 1.6m. Was interesting to know that they travel such distances.

It's moreorless 2 years apart, so it makes sense that it's recapped in the same area, cos those babies are here for a few months every year, hehe.

Its really difficult to properly measure a cow, esp the smaller rats. Hulle is woelig.

Reason cos maybe it was measured total for the first measurement, and then you took a PCL measurement?

For instance, 1430mm total for the first one, and 2 years later its 1450mm PCL.

They eat anything those cows, cant see how it only grew 20mm in 2 years.

I caught a recaptured smoothie in langebaan, if I remember correctly, it grew 500mm in 2 years! Almost on the day. It was 1460cm when I got him.
Check the differance in growth rate.

Very interesting Stinky. As for the growth of the cow, here's how I see it. I hooked one 11 years ago and the growth length wise was minimal. The growth size in diameter was however very rapid.

Luckily not. She was tagged after capture and gets foul hooked from time to time. You know as the need arises for a proper stretch.
