iBurst

Mick, the thing that really blows my mind about i-Burst is the way the pro packages handle cap time. They say it slows down to dial up speed. The upload speed stays the same, but if my dial up had been even remotely as good as i-Bursts idea of dial up I would still be on dial up.

Whats the pricing like for a mobile set up on i burst? Looking to use it on my laptop... Vodacom and mtn getting a bit pricey with their 3g hsdpa set ups...is the modems free or small purchase price? Also are they only avail on contracts or can u get a pay and use set up?

Modems are very expensive on month to month. Included in contract. www.iburst.co.za for pricing and info. Master feel free to contact me for more info.

Oy Master

Also having the 3G Vodacom thing and not really pleased, pricey yes, and i currently stay where the signal is really bad so I reconnect to the net every so often ( at least once every 5minutes) cancelling the contract and getting iBurst, well that's gaonna costme something like R13k them Vodacom tele-personel tells me, so I'm stuck for at least the better part of the three year contract:swear:swear:swear:swear

Call for a written advice on what the cancellation costs are!

Can't always rely on call centre answers.

Surely the only cost they need to recover is the modem.

Read your contract too. If your connection is unsuitable, you might have a right of recourse.

Did that bud, :telething is it might take them ages:goodmc to send sum1 out to verify the lack in signal strength:shut:: and then there's the laptop that came as part of the contract,::eek:op:: no external modem.....

Anyhow, perhaps, once we move (was suppose to have done so last year already) then the signals will be better at the new address, so for the meanwhile I'm hanging in there.......:(

Mickjack is right LGF.

No matter what the contract says, if the service provider "provides" you with something inadequate, they cannot charge you. They can't make you pay for something that you are not getting.

I have had this argument before and won

Guys, sort of almost off topic here. 3G has one HUGE advantage over i-burst, it has better overall coverage. At this stage I wouldn't look at i-burst as a mobile solution, their coverage is not good enough for that yet. That said i-burst is working very hard to get their coverage right.

It's all well and good trying to get LGF into i-burst, but what if his area is not covered by i-burst.(If he is having issues with 3G it probably isn't)

I would have had i-burst for much longer if they had covered my area earlier.

@LL, rightly so

@silent Bob, bud I don't have a 3G card, I've got an internal modem (sim card slot beneath the batt of the laptop)

Anyhows, like I said I'll stick to it until we have moved closer to civilization (14km's) and if by then its still a mess like it is now well then its camo jackets and all the mp5's that me and vlakkie can stick underneath it.....

Dell, just dont' ask me the model number, also perhaps for yur info it's running the big bug vista, but the prob is signal, as the cellphones (all 3 of them) has the same symptoms......

if the issue is signal then an antenna would have made a difference. i use my iburst with an antenna even though i am in a very good coverage area.
