You would need to use proper Braid for these! Don't want to break off one of these baby's! At least 150 LBS!

Indeed, I use 130lbs Jerry Brown braid.

How many meters do you use, I need to fill my SL30SH? Don't think I need to fill to whole reel, use it for the cats only.

I probably have 150m on my reel, but it's a waste. You only need 80m at most and the rest can be backing. They grab the pumpkin seed with allot of force, but tire very quickly.

This idea has being going on for some time already in the USA

Thanks for sharing the link, I think I'll join that conversation and share my project and also offer some assistance with the electronics. Looks like I might be able to contribute as there seems to be some confusion about driving the ERM correctly and efficiently.

The design concepts between my vibrating lure and the one on Tackle underground is completely different. Mine is programmable and is controlled by software that determines the output waveform and the one on Tackle underground runs directly off a battery or solar cell, so it can only vibrate in a monotonous manner.

Since I have no intentions to produce my lure commercially I might make it open source under a non-commercial license as there seems to be some interest in this.

Hi everyone,

Just an update on the lure. I've tested the prototypes over the last couple of months and I've caught plenty of fish. Under normal conditions it's not much better than a regular pumpkin seed, but where it shines is in dirty water, near flowing water or when the wind is blowing. It definitely has an advantage over the regular pumpkin seeds where the water is muddy or turbulent.

I've continued the development of the lure and circuitry and I'm very happy with the way it turned out, there is nothing that comes close. There will be two sizes and I think the smaller one will be the favourite.

During the planning stages of the lure I set myself a list of requirements for the electronics and version 2 of the circuitry meets all those requirements. It's a work of art and it was a huge challenge to fit it all into a package small enough for the smaller lure.

The circuit boards are currently being made in the US and if all goes well will be delivered at the end of next week. The electronic components are already on their way and the moulds arrived from England today and it's out of this world.

I would really like to show everyone, but I'll wait for the finished product because I think the workmanship and quality will be appreciated more when I show the end result.

These lures will never be for sale, because they simply cost way too much to make and it takes around a week from start to finish. Component costs per lure is R1015 currently and nobody will pay R1500-R2000 for a lure. I consider this lure a technological showpiece and will only make a limited number to give away to enthusiasts.

Maybe I'll use the mould to make non-electronic pumpkin seeds, but that will depend on the effort required to paint them. Maybe for collector's items, we'll see...

Epic! I'm sure a few catfish fanatics in the states would part with $100 odd for the next secret..haha not that you seem too keen to make your masterpiece a commercial venture anyway. Thanks for the update. Show us when you are done!

I finally have something to show. Here is the first completed small size Vibrolure.
