Hello Bennie,

These moulds looks amazing and the spoons as well... Do you only use tin or do you sometimes use whitemetal as well? How does the 2 compare to each other?

I am thinking of making a mould and will soon start playing around on the making of a spoon and also with the mould. I would actually like to see these spoons you have in action and see how they compare to the famous Allan Seeker spoons when fishing for yellowtail...

I am actually using WM90 (white metal), that all I use.
As for Yellow Tail, it should work... They are deadly for Tuna.

Should we do a proper spoon making tutorial from start to finish?

Lets see who is interested, if we have enough interest we can do it step by step.

Bennie that would be amazing!!! It will def assist people like me to start making spoons and play with different shapes. I got my firsT yellowfin(+-20kg) on a snake spoon about 2 weeks ago and many many longfins... now its on the popper next...lol

I will also appreciate any tips for melting and pouring of metal and the actual mould...

Hi Bennie. Is white metal not the same as tin? Reason i ask is I use the same stuff that you use and thought it was supposed to be tin. Once it hardens its stiff as hell and not at all flexible like the tin snake spoons sold in the shops here. Also i find this WM90 doesnt stay shiny for long. Also quite a bit of black sludge when i melt it down. Any thoughts on this?

They are basically the same. White Metal (WM 90) is 90% Tin with Antimonyand a little copper. White metal is used for Big end bearings and I think the copper acts as a lubricant.
