I have just posted a new question but not sure if it actually went, here it goes again:
Good day to all.
I have orderd a 28' Buttcat from John Butt.Would you know who I could ask to build a good surf launching trailer for it.I would like Oil filled LA Axles with a hydraulic breaking sysytem.I need a good quality trailer.
Have a look at the 28' Butt that is for sale on the supremecraft web site,it's a brown and orange one,I am really like the deck layout, would you know who could make these types of seats for me?

Grant,
Good one on the order. What is the lead time???? Hopefully he quicker than he was on mine, but he did say he focuses more on the bigger baots.
As for the seats, are they not std Butt cat seats?? I have seen them on a few, so may be standard.
As for a trailer, A&G (Supremecraft) are meaking trailers for john i believe. Not sure what they look liek or how they work. Lee cat are also dowen that way and they make solid trailers for their boats. maybe contact them. May be able to help you out.
I look forward to seeing he end product in a few months time. How many ponies you putting ont he back?? Make??
Did you come right with the old boat and the motor problem???

Hiya

That boat has the full sportsfisher cabin.

Also have a look at his walk-around cabins. They are a tad bit smaller than the full sportsfisher cabin, but does offer ALOT more fishing space.......

I have contacted A&G and I am awaiting a quote.I spoke to John and he said that I have to much weight in the front of the boat.My fuel, batteries etc. are adding to the problem. He said I must at least get my fuel to the back middel of the boat.

I have ordered the walk around plus I have made the cabin a bit shorter as we don't get the bad weather the Cape gets and I feel it might get a bit hot inside.

John is very anti the fuel upfront. we put ours there and no problem, but we do put all crew at the back otgherwise she is very wet.
also our batteries are at the back. try that and see if it helps. be interesting to see. I recall someone having similar problem with a v-cat a while ago. be interesting to see if that helped him.

Hi Miles

I have been told that there is a new Butt Cat that is 200mm longer than a 28ft but 400mm wider, they call it the 8.65m. So it sounds like it is not a 30ft, but is bigger than the 28ft, maybe 29ft. I have not seen one but heard it looks very good, as I am looking to buy a 28ft this looks very good but can't find someone that has actually been on one. Any info would be welcome.

Hiya

I've not heard anything about this new butt-cat, best bet would be to contact John Butt directly.

It how-ever doesn't sound feasible though. Look at the standard spec's:

28' Butt-Cat

Length : 8.50m

Width: 3.0m

30' Butt-Cat

Length : 8.95m

Width: 3.3m

As you can see, the boat you're most likely referring to would be a 30' butt-cat, just shortened. I could be wrong though!! Just seems a bit silly to make the 28'er wider, about the same width as the 30'er, BUT shorter. Either way, when you make the 28'er wider, its will not be legally towable on the roads, so you might as well look at the 30'er then.

Hope that was of some assistance!!

Please keep us updated at to what you find out!!

Hi there Miles
The new 28' has a length of 8.65m a beam of 3.1m where as the old one is 8.4m long and hasa beam of 2.9m,whether you can tow the new size boat is questionable as stated.

Hiya

Do you know whether the actual HULL is the same 28' hull and just the top deck that has been extended, to make it a bit longer and wider?

Or is it a complete new re-designed hull as well?

Hi

On the price list from Buttcat they have the following sizes, 8.4, 8.65, 8.95. The local guys recommend that I look at the 8.65, quite a few guys are planning to upgrade to this size from their existing 28ft boats. There is one being built for a commercial boat here in St Francis which will be the first one in that size for up here, meaning I haven't seen one just heard of it.

I evntually found a few pics of my butt cat . Not the best pics but you can see the general layout and the new items John built for us, ie new narrower console, false transom and live well etc. T-Top still to go on before dec.
