I have experimented with many different foam formulations and then I had the demoulding issue. But it seems I finally came right.
The foam is rock hard, as strong as wood.

In the mould. Came out rather easy. This is the weights I used inside, it is a surface lure, weighting around 100 grams and sits level and upright on the surface. Now I can play with the weights to achieve different actions or make it sink etc.

I am thinking of using pre-formed, carbon-fibre strenghtened foam ribs for a kayak that I'm builing.

Do you mind telling what foam you settled with? The words "strong as wood" caught my attention

Here is how this one lies in the water. Now I can add or move the weights. I'll do this when I see how is swims.

 

 

Hi,
I had this stuff formulated. Normally the foam has "give" but this stuff is as hard as a brick but fairly light.

The lure will eventually get a shell so shouldn't take water. In fact I have had it in a bowl of water just to see and no absorbsion what so ever.

We'll get to paint them soon. Just moulding a few first.

Heya,
I am moulding a few for myself, then the mould is off to it's new owner. I designed the lure and made the mould for Mark AKA Tackle Whore who will decide it's future. I will however try to replicate "Lucy" for myself.

Thank you! But I enjoy "re"designing things. I may not always get it right but I enjoy trying.

@ Serra Moz, Singapore is an awesome place, clean and very beautiful, people there aren't as friendly though. I stayed in Taiwan for about 3 months when I was younger and that was an absolute joll. I loved it, was offered a job there teaching English grammar (how funny is that?) but I had to came home, missed boereworse too much! Presumably for work? Enjoy! Wonder how the fishing is there?

yes, Bennie might be towing an oil rig there? 99.9% Go so far, still have finalize heaps of stuff. I will however go and check the tackle out, looking for a proper trolling reel..

Not at all for this project. The foam works very well. It is very dense and easy to work with. One concern with the Fastcast was when you use a buoyancy product it just rises to the top. This lure weighs 175 grams which is a nice weight. With the Fastcast PU it might be a bit too heavy.

I do however want to make some seriously heavy ones for trolling in a spread. But that is as simple as add more lead!
