I decided earlier this year to take this form of angling more seriously and also will be joining a club soon.

However.

Yesterday we braved the cold and the kids and I were off to a small private dam just off the R28, close to Krugersdorp.

It was cold as it comes, cost me a new pop-up umbrella, and we blanked.:fishn

So, the decision to join up with Craig and Marius has been boosted as fishing like yesterday is called suffering when you blank, but I hope to change that soon with the exposure we hope to get from joining some of the old hands in the game.

How is your winter Carping doing?

Winter's been good and bad, last weekend went to Harties and fished a shallow bay, also blanked. Went again on saturday, fished a piece that's about 10m deep and we caught 7 carp totaling 29kg. Deisel uses gill-nets that he puts out in the jukskeiriver for about a week. He forgot to mention all the 1kg fish he took home for fishcakes.

I came 5th on Saturday in our clubcomp at Cillier, Vaaldam, with a total of 3 fish. It would have been more but lost a few early on due to snags. Only started getting fish out after removing the top hook from the trace. Most fish where caught on sweet dough.

Biggest fish for the day was a carp just under 1kg.

Ek het so twee naweke terug `n 5.5kg Karp by Oranjeville gevang. Op Caremelix and Yellowactivator.

My winter hengel het to dusver goed gegaan slegs 1 keer geblank (dis 2 keer in 10 jaar by daai venue ) maar dan is dit nie so koud hier soos daar bo by julle nie

Soos ek verstaan was meeste vis gevang met net deeg. Een ou het SWD, ek het Garlic soet deeg, ens.

Het ook Saterdag geblank by Draaifontein, pragtige sonskyn warm dag. Die manne het hul vis op Looti, Tjoptjop en wit deeg gevang, die grootste vis was 'n karo van oor die 2kg gevang met gumtree floats(groot). Gumtree op bol.

Volgens die ander in die klub het hul Saterdag aand die grotes geroer. Skoon mollases en swd.

Die naweek buite Orkny by Broadlands gevang. $ vis gevang waar die kleinste 3.5 en grootste 4.8 Kg was. Amandel en caramel.
