I currently fish with double X 0.30mm line and im wondering if this is my best option.

I have a baitboat now so I wont be doing much casting anymore.

Does the color of the line affect the fishing?

What line would you recommend? How thick? How strong? What colour? And what  type (double x, diamond, kingfisher etc...)

b raid braid braid, just watch in your bait boat prop, oh and i know speciemen chap that fishes 50lbs braid in heavy structure and 30lbs in open water, personally i think its to heavy but hes the speciemen man not me,

I use Suffix 20lb sinking braid for the main line, think its a .23mm, for nylons the DoubleX is good, a .30mm is around 7lbs I think, definately wouldnt go anything lighter than that if you are going to fish close to margins and structure where big carp usualy hang around.
You get many different types of braids and nylons for the hooklink itself, I would suggest any soft sinking braid to start with if taking out with the bait boat and mabe a stiff braid if casting. You should also look at getting some braided lead core between your main line and your hair rig (50-80cm) this prevents the line near the bait picking up and spooking the fish when it is near the bait.

Uni Knot always does the trick

Yes - a leader is important (to me). Remember the above set-ups suggested is non casting set-ups.

Braid - you are looking at anything between R1.00 to R1.30 per meter

laern an albright knot thats works to as its very small and runs through the eyes easily,
braid is about R375 for 275m of 30lbs its really costly but its worth it, and you will need a decent pair of braid scissors or you will struggle to trim tags ect

I think I paid R650 for 800m of the suffix braid, its green in colour but I am not too fussed about colour, sometimes when using braid it is good to use a shock leader for when the fish is close, the shock leader just gives that little bit of stretch which could prevent a hook pull as braid has no stretch at all, I dont use it though as i have faith in my rods and normally fight with a lowered drag when the fish is up close.

a shock leader (fleurocarbon) is usefull in clear water as the carp may see it become line shy as it looks like a foreign object

I found suffix specimen to be excellent, that brown .25mm line  is very strong, I hooked into a carp that was going for structure so i had to apply the brakes, my blue marlin vectra snapped in two, but the line, did not break, managed to get him out,  respooled my carp reels with 0.25 mm double x hi vis will try it out this weekend,

The lenght of your leader depends on the lenght of your rod, for a 12 foot rod, i use an 8 meter leader and a 7 meter leader for my 10 ft rod, glad you like the site,

i use a 10 metre for all my rods it gives me extra line to chomp off after i tie a knot otherwise i got bugger leader left after fishing for 2 hours

I have some 0.30mm double x line that I bought about two weeks ago. I bought two rolls and put one roll on each of my two magnums. The one roll seems to have been a bad batch of line. Almost every cast ends up with a snap. But I will buy a new roll of double x for that reel this weekend. Double X has never let me down before(that is before this last weekend).
