bimini has got nothing to do with shock absorption, the mainline behind a bimini will stretch 3 times more than a bimini because the bimini is 3 layers of mono therefore needs 3 x the pressure of a single strand to stretch an equal distancedef PR for me,maybe cos i find it easier than tying a bimini,
and also i think the purpose of the bimini is defeated in tying it in the braid as there is no stretch and hence doesnt offer the shock absorption it would normally offer in mono.

I think he was referring to the old way of making a bimini. We used to make the bimini loose and long which behaved like a spring. Nobody does that anymore.GT Mayhem wrote:
