So last weekend we went for a one day Bass session at a nearby venue. We got there just after 6 the morning but it was dead, couldn`t get any fish. We set up the boat ant moved around quite a bit to find the fish between the weed patches where the water was a bit warmer when at about 9 we got the first fish ant they just kept coming after that with over 20 fish landed between the three of us.

So this past weekend my brother, frien and me drove through to meet a friend at a venue in the Free State for a specimen session. We had some high expectations for some big carp with reports of some nice fish coming out. My brother landed the first fish of just over 6kg. A friend then landed an 11.88kg fish. I landed my first fish of 8.9kg and another of just over 7kg the next morning.
Saturday a few fish came out with the biggest being 14.2kg. That evening at about 12, I got a 7kg fish and just as I put the rod down, my next one went. After a great fight on one of my new rods, I landed my new PB, a 13,3kg beautiful fish. Two hours later I landed a 5kg soccer ball shaped fish that looked extremely funny.
One or two small fish came out after that as well as one 11kg barbel.

I missed the pics of our Kei Mouth League. Well, I fished it as part of the Sealine club with my father and brother. We had a frustrating day with only a few Sandies but we kept at it and at about 21h00 that evening things began falling in place. I put out a live mullet and helped my father put one out as well. Not long after his livie hit the water, we noticed bouncing on his rod so he picked it up and went tight, we hoped for a cobbie but this was no cobbie.
While he was still fighting his fish, my rod went and i managed a nice 8.5kg cobbie, tagged it, snapped a quick pic and released it again.
This is a cool pic as my father was still fighting his fish with the rod in his hand.

It was quite a while later that I saw the fish for the first time, seeing it was a raggie and a nice one got me a bit nervous as I knew my father only had a small circle hook on. I got hold of the tail a while later and we landed this beautiful bag of just over 160kg.
We kept at it till about 01h00 the next morning. I dropped two more cob, one at my feet, bigger than the previous one:shock:.

Just realized now that its been ages since Ive added some of my catches, there will be quite a few missing in between but here goes.
This was my very first bag on grinder, was super stoked as it was the night we arrived in J-bay for the December holidays last year. Was around 150kg if my memory serves me right.

Very next throw, got another bag of over 160kg as my second bag on the grinder and still my biggest. Great evening and start to the holiday but unfortunately for the next two weeks, we got nothing over 10kg in lukewarm, crystal clear water.

Next stop I can remember was PE in March. No exceptional fish landed, only two nice spotties, one was my first on the grinder, and two leeries, one with the castnet. O, and some great shad catches on the wild side.

Next trip and one of my biggest memories to date was Mpame in June. We lost a lot of big sharks due to reefs but landed my second Blacktip and now PB as well as my first cob on dropshot, also a pb, along with some other catches.
Made a video edit of the trip, have a look if you have not yet seen it.
