Well recently, i have caught quite a few kingies at blue lagoon and in the umgeni river mouth...........all were nothing to scream about, but fun none the less.

lure coloring should be according to the lighting around ie, sunny day - bright lure, dull day or evening - dull lure.

the retrieve should be a fast one, but not too fast or the lure will be skipping on top of the water, you want it to be just below the surface or inside the crest of a wave.

the water should be clean with some bubbles in the water here and there. throw your drop shot into the bubbles and reel it so that it comes out of the bubbles into the clear water, i find that the kingies take the lure just as it enters the clear water bbut make sure that you use a leader as the line will quickly fray if the fish goes behind a rock..........the best spot at lugs that i would recommend is on your right hand side, there is a flat rock, in the lo tide, stand there and cast out and you will definately get a fish, if they are there:).

good luck

The small kingies were at Blue Lagoon yesterday (17th) around 2pm.

A few were caught on spoon. As I was leaving, 2 dropshotters arrived, I wonder if they had any luck!
