We once went out on a Saturday - freetime (I did orientation not basics in the Navy as I came from the Army) - anyway we took the whaler out, with some beers and some stoppe from White City....Sailed all the way to the Langebaan area, the wind changed, well you know that bay it can change very quickly! The SIs (Sailing Instructors) arrived in a DSB (Duck) to check if we were ok...we were just fine, as the one chap onboard the whaler was/is an expert Yachty, They told us that Flag Q was hoisted, and all small craft (Naval) had to return to the boat section. Not that you can see a yellow flag without binos miles away.
Nothing was said about the beers or Red Heart Rum....they took a few shots and they "guided" us back.
Correct most Wednesdays we went sailing.

PS: I was also there.....too long back, but for "sports parade"we sailed cutters and whalers in the bay still !

This is the launch at Arniston/Waenhuiskrans

You need wheels on your boat and drive the boat out on to the concrete slip
Then take it home like that
There is a shortcut in front of the cave if you want to go to Struisbaai and the 12 mile and other banks
Otherwise you can hit east to Koppie alleen which (still) has a lot of reef fish
Local knowledge imperative I reckon!

Strandfontein is a town for mostly farmers
There is no petrol
It's just a few miles south of the Olifants river mouth (this is where the Orange river used to flow into the Atlantic when blocked by the Namib dunes) so lots of diamond activity north of here
This is the only slip...only for jetskis and small boats and rubberducks really
