We went to Hole in the wall last year September in a Toyota corolla and the car managed it just fine. You would struggle though if the road was wet.

The last I heard it wasn't to bad,,, But them my bad and another s may be two different things!!! Hmmm, this was before the big rains about 2 weeks ago... Make sure volvo occupants drive will all windows open and no baggage in the car,,,, when all those side impact airbags go off they need a lot of room to expand... POOOF! Grrrr, open another beer!

Mmm my girlfriend decided we needed to overnight there a couple of years ago on our way to Durban and I nearly had a hernia about half way there with countless french words coming from my mouth we almost turned around halfway there.

Dont mind it in a bakkie but in a car its not ayoba.

Maybe the road is a bit better now tho.

If the correct road is taken it is not bad.
The correct road to take, Follow the road down from Vidgesville. Do NOT take the first hole in the wall exit. Take the first road after that to the right (This is at Kwaaimans Shopping centre). Follow this road down to hitw.
As mentioned, if the roads are wet it will get tricky, as the hills become seriously slippery.

If they are precious about their vehicle rather advise them to go somewhere else as they will find potholes, mud, rocks, etc that might be a challenge for a vehicle with low clearance. This is especially an issue if they want to go to coffee bay or Mpame from there. If they just go to hole in the wall hotel, the road is fine. PS- they must have a clear map of the correct road.

100% korrek!

We drove that road when we went to the B.D.Bash...some potholes but not a bad road at all....yes things do deteriorate, however we are Africans...so accept it(or go to Australia)...drive a Toyota!

Psy, some of the main tar roads in Australia are worse than the dirt tracks in SA. Potholes, narrow, uneven tar surface that gives the car a mind of its own. Toyota okay for Africa, but here I need a Defender.

By the sound of things, if you take the wrong road to Hole in the wall....you'll end up at hole in the sump......

The roads are alright if you take it slow, but have gotten worse after the rains. Just to correct jac, the turnoff is at Ngcwanguba store, just after Kwaaiman. Do not take the Zitulele hospital route(turnoff just before Kwaaiman). That road is very bad!

after this weeknds rains the main road from the N2 to Coffee bay has had bridges under water, so who knows what condition the road will be in after it settles.
Rivers in the area in full flood.
