Wow Emps awesome report.....
just a Q do you think that the possible Hi-jacking was planned and the Gilly was involved hence taking you the wrong way...Also how would one acquire a gilly if needed surely you cant just ask any of the local and trust them with your life. Maybe Reefs want to start another thread (not to hi jack this 1) were Guys can recommend Gilly's for area e.g. "Eddie" for Transkei etc... In this way those who does a great job is rewarded as well...

Once again AWSOME STUFF!!!

Hi Dubz,

When we reached the T-Junction, our gilly(ivan) pointed us in the opposite direction, so we doubt he could be involved in the possible hi-jack plot. When we got to the fake Mbolompo - there was a car-guard in waiting - i mean this place is like ultra remote, i think that part was so planned.

Security at the hole in the wall resort was quality, guards were up2date at both gates, secure fencing and night patrol. The locals were so friendly, we carried sweets for the little ones, and when we left Mbolompo Point we donated all our old tackle, small hooks, spoons, lures, nylon, swivels and traces to the youngsters, in return they did a quick cleanup of the most exciting fishing spot i have ever been too.

Cheers

Empz

Great to see you guys hooked into something decent. GL, John Liverdos, and I really struck out badly. We managed a few small ones, but live baits and sliders went pretty much untouched.
I spoke to the owner of the White Clay resort. The spot you refer to as Hlongwane, is actually called Ferdies Gulley (named after his Uncle....you sometimes see it in some of the older fishing books) Hlongwane is the next point further north. Also a nice place to fish.
We tried everything from Umtata River mouth (one of the nicest places), all the way down to Mpami, (this is also a stunning spot). The only place we never went to was Mbolompo (GL this this place in jinxed). Next year we will try to go later in the year.......end of May / June.
