Hiya

Since joining this forum, i'm extremely happy to see so many anglers being able to share their knowledge so freely. Regardless of what type of fishing you do, the ulimate goal is to CATCH fish!! Looking back, over the last few weeks, it seems that the majority of guys, specifically refering to the Cape Town crew, are having a bit of bad luck, with big sea's and even stronger winds...........

So, here's the deal: i'm quite happy to take out 9 anglers with me on my boat, specifically to target reef fish, like red roman, red stumpnose, red steenbras, etc, etc (and YES, there is PLENTY of these fish still left in FalseBay!!) The set-up is quite simple, just cover my fuel bill for the day and thats it. You guys are more than welcome to use my tackle, be it rod and reel or handline. There is ONE other proviso: ALL FISH CAUGHT ARE TO BE RELEASED!! (I'm more than happy to bring my digital camera along, to provide photographic evidence!!:D)

For those not in the know, here's my back-ground. I'm a commercial tuna fisherman, who spent more than 2 years fishing FALSE BAY for linefish. Since the tuna season has ended, i'm spending my time spearfishing and fishing socially. I've been very fortunate in having guys with 20-30 years COMMERCIAL fishing experience teach me, so there's a wealth of knowledge to be shared.

Just like many of you anglers, i too was a ardent rock and surf angler. Fishing Macasssar, Cones, Blokhuis, Monwabisi, Tweede Baai, Wolfgat, Mnandi, Beepens, Arendse and Merino Road, Die Fridge, Blue waters, Gunnery, Stranfontein from the pool to paaletjies, Muskiete gat, Sonwabe,Baileys, and most of the spots in between, as well as the whole Arniston, Struisbaai, Aghulas, Brandfontein, Rietfontein (Slymgat is still one of my Favourite spots!!), Dam, Quinn Point, Buffeljag, Pearly Beach, Hermanus Plaat (incl. Kelders and Mierkom) as well as Blombos, Jongesfontein and breederiver area's.

With the banning of 4x4's on the beach, the more readily accessable spots become steadily less productive, with the increase in fishing pressure. Needless to say, after being offered a trip on a boat, it changed my world!! Now, i could stay in Cape Town and have UNBELIEVABLE fishing!! I was fortunate in having friends whom were kind enough to expose me to this facet of angling, and now would like to do like-wise and also offer other rock and surf guys the opportunity to try something new.

What do you guys think??

Regards

Hiya

Guys, Saturday or Sunday is quite fine!! I'm free pretty much most of the time, so what-ever date is most suitable for most members, would be best.

Fuel will work out to about R70.00 per person, actually might be a bit less. We can go out for the day, with FULL fuel tanks, then return to harbour and simply fill up the boat again. That way, its fair to everyone.

We'll depart from Simons Town and seeing as its winter, there's no need for a early morning start. About 7:00am at the harbour is perfect.

Mansoor, sorry to hear about your bad trip!! Not to worry about the drinking bit, as i'm muslim and don't drink!!:D:D

I'll make another post on what you should bring along.

On another note, Monday and Tuesday looks SPECTACULAR for fishing inside False Bay. If there are 2 members that are keen on going out, my small boat is available. Just chip in for fuel and i'm happy!!
