Hi there. I'm going the end of the month to Jacobsbaai. Any pointers on where to do some surf angling in the area? Thanks

the flattish rocks on the opposite side of the resturant of the bay is where they get the kob and geelbek from, you can spin from the beach inside the bay and catch nice size elf there at times!

Thank you, this is a big help. It's always frustrating pitching up at a place and you have no idea where the good spots are.

the bay is very small, so you should have no problem finding the spot... and a little birdie told me there was kob caught there a week or so ago!

i found it best on the risingtide as the sun sets , very productive with fresh sardines , at night a good spot for big cows aswell , from the flat rocks throw towards the island thats where the channel is

Here is the spot I always go when going to Jacobsbaai, remember the South Easter must blow for 3-4 days, and then the Kob and Geelbek will come in to the bay, also it is best to target these fish when the wind is blowing and on the push and the out going tide... at night and if the water is good and you dont want to stand in the howling wind you can put out a line for a cow shark....

When you drive into Jacobsbaai, try and drive till you reach this mostrosity, and you'll end up in the right spot to fish as posted by Wayne. LOL

That "MONSTROSITY" as Copper calls it is a 16 story BARGE..washed up in a storm we had,it broke lose and has been on the rocks for sometime now,the guy from Switzerland who it belongs to has gone back to his ice capped peaks and is calling for a different crew to come pull this thing off the rocks,my best bet would be get the JOHN ROSS and the WOLTERMADE (spelling I know) and pull the thing off,its a eye sore even when fishing there...

I stay in the "bay" and there are plenty of external factors like wind and cloud coverage that influence the catch... The wind must be SE or SSE and there has to be foam on the water with clouds above... should you not have these factors in your favour you may catch a hottie or 2. I did pull in 2 cow sharks as mentioned above but at sundown. I am still to get the all allusive cob that is bragged about but i will confirm that Monday 14th December 2009 there was a school of cob that was hunting elf and harders in the bay and the catch was rife with 1 oke bagging a 6KG cob... ( I wont be nasty but that was meant to be mine) for now i will stick to mamwabezi for the odd catch
