Just wanted to know ..

we have such a diverse set of people here & we mainly know them cos of their fishing Skills etc .

Just wondered what other sports you participate in & what achievements ..if any ...you may have achieved .

Lets see what you guys do other than Fishing !!!

Maybe we have some other sports in Common ???

Up until i moved to Jhb ..

I did karate - Goju Kai ... for about 15 years ,

I  was an instructor .. got my Shodan / Black belt in 1992 ...

I was competitive in Karate as well ...

In 1995

I was lucky enough to make the Kzn team for Goju Kai & went to my 1st Nationals ...

& was awarded a Bronze Medal for Kumite / Fighting !!!:::S

WP colours for wrestling since I was 5 years old till I gave the sport up in 1993 when I came first in the SA championships (biggest disappointment in my life to have given up the sport that I loved the most). Wrestled in freestyle as well as Greco-Roman wrestling. The clubs that I belonged to were : Jan Odendaal Amateur wrestling & Tafelberg Amateur Wrestling academy. Did the sport for 14 years and still miss it a lot! Will post pic where I "pose" with my medal when I was 5....just don't laugh...will scan it tomorrow.....lol

I stuck to "F"s, you dirty minded lot, lol. Have Wp junior, senior, SA & Protea colours for Fencing, stopped 3 years ago after 18 years of competition

Wikus: Dit was presies dieselfde klubs waar ek begin stoei het!  Oom Jan was 'n slawe drywer, maar ek was nog nooit weer so fiks soos wanneer ek gestoei het nie!

Mangi, sien jy het begin net so rukkie na ek klaar was, nou moet jy weet, ek het by oom Jan begin toe ek 5jaar oud was...the good old days!!!

Did Regional off road racing (200cc class)    (northwest province ) managed a 6th overall as a privateer  racing against big sponsered teams , what a blast.. !!! also ridden Durban to Joburg a couple of times.. (Quads 4 Quads) fundraiser for quadraplegic association of S.A ...

Ice Hockey(skating for almost 40 years now and still skating.
Taurack nows the good old days at Wembley ice rink!!!!

Waterpolo.

Now its just fishing, hunting, gym and family

Played rugby--- Defence Force---Tvl Highveld region-- South eastern Tvl 0/18--Freestate 0/20 B side.

Motocross 125cc and 250cc-Blue stratos.

Did a lot of sport--Babnington(spelling), Karate, Boxed, Soccer ( Maritz Brothers JHB), Skydiving, cricket, action cricket, softball, Squash.

All above just on club or private level.

Got ep colours for triathlon, biathlon, biatle, wrestling, shooting, tennis, squash, badminton,

Also played varsity level table tennis,soccer and badminton.

went to usasa tournament for badminton.

just did about all the sports there was to do.

Then i realised there was fishing..... but i am not that good at it yet.

Jurre Kopstamp, your folks were lucky, you must have had so much provincial clothing that they would have never hd to buy you civvies!!
