lebz quick guide to fishing tago

catfish
there some big nunu's in these waters
tagocat.jpg

the above cat was caught on a day old chick but any standard cat bait will work well platties if u can get them are the best

carp
have always done well with anything sweet pink sweets/honey glow etc
sweet dough/mielie pit or sweet dough floaties

grass carp
there are plenty actually a pest at tago so if you are worried about bait for catfish dont just cut the heads of these fish big, cats love them

muddies
at time you catch them shot for shot earthworm dough and a short cast.
great fun for the lighties

spots

the main spot where zoro lets most people fish (in front of the tree's) can get congested and certain time of the year you almost fish in a bay,so every one thinks they are casting/taking lines out straight but meanwhile you end up with crossed lines

No power at tago. We jus build a big fire n also have a gaslamp n headlights. U must fish @ night! Caught a few lekka ones after dark. A little scary rowing out @ night but worth it. Caught a 4kg grass carp on a chicken heart, pretty wierd (was aiming 4babel) caught a few small ones nuffin record breaking... Think the trick is a marker n a feeding spot. And when u hook a fish walk in quite deep with the net cos lank grass and stuff the first few meters... We had good luck on sweet baits. Found that mielie pips were catching the grassies, pink sweet gummies and xfactor (pine n caramel) with a bit of molasses dough on hook from zorro (the owner)on a hair rig was working. Its an awesome place! Go there at least 1ce a month... We normally fish the competition spot, no trees though so a gazebo is a must... Good luck! Let us know.

Ons was toe die naweek by Tago, en dit was great.

Hier 'n paar foto'

Ek met 'n 4kg

This is what you need - marker with flash light so you can pedal at nigh nicely
It is solar and it is sealed - it re charges battery during the day and as soon becomes dark start to flesh strong light.
Solar road stud R 160.00
Hop Ball 45cm  R 150.00
10 kg sinker - DIY   R 50.00
Rope R 20.00
and little bit of effort

I fish at Tago all the time , this is must to have

Maybe phone zorro before hand... (072 820 7719)
We've just started specimen fishing n found that banjo boilies bait works well....
Any strawberry, caramel, pinksweet baits work...
Zorro sells a molasses dough R45 a bigish bottle.... works well along with pink sweet gummies and x-factor floats.... Rowing out bait is a must and there are no trees (on competition side so a gazebo or umrella is highly recommended....

Let us know how it went.....

hehe warms? worms?? wala? lol! im lost... yea guess we also use bread wit sugar n caramal, but zoros dough is way better... Also another good hint.... THeres a place in randpark ridge jhb "westpack" they sell banana milkshake concentrate mix... use that instead of water in yo bomb.... works frign wonders....

We use to use lank worms, but at tago the babel seem to be sleeping the last few times we been... Or we just doing it wrong... dunno..... At rus a biekie we"d pulled out 72 fish in a weekend, mainly muddies on worms though, still fun times, goin after the big uns now rather....

Dam fish tashed Sh!! 2me... Sea fish on the other hand.. Hells yeah!!!

So post some pics n all of your tago catches... there are big buggers there.....
