14ft fully built. Went for a bit of lenght this time, for the beach to get some better distance.

The rod is medium fast or fast medium, when you cast it with a lighter sinker and bait or spoon and you let go, it does act in a fast manner, but when you throw a heavier bait for a small thoothy it a slower cast works fine aswell.

its a 4-6once rod.

The price is R1800

DV- had a chat to Enigma and it will be possible to do a 12ft version- price will vary depending on guides ect.

Wessel you to quick man

Darth Vader. Our difference at CDS Angling (AfriCast Custom Rods) is that we build rods to customers requested specs.

So if you pm me or send and email we will suggest a number of rods to do the job you want to do.

We do not only build with a specific blank or only a specific rod type we build to spec to do the job you want done.

So it could be a CRB Tuna Popping Blank a MHX Inshore for Tail or even a Purglas slimline or a 3 piece CRB or GraphCast or a Blue Marlin for plugging for tail off St Francis.

For your 12' it would quite possibly be a Blue Marlin 3 piece 2-4oz in T53 or T24 depending on what you're l;ooking for in the rod.

:SSS..Thanks Enigma , gonna sit this weekend give some thought and mull over the specs/my requirements....my 110H is lovely and light as well as a nice thin blank..but too heavy/stiff on the tip for those 1 to 2oz spoons and I think does not give the light spoons the required "action"..so yes , I like the 110H's set up but would like the fastish action my BM TruFlex gives me. Its about time I invested in a "custom" blank and eyes...but will confirm in a day or two...many thanks once again...:SSS:SSS

DV- just one tip- talk to craig and ask lots of questions(sorry craig) most times I end up learning a few things here and there that I was not aware off, this makes the decision much easier when you are well informed...

I can honestly say that his rod is truelly customised- in the sense that he builds for your requirment exactly and style of fishing!

And I am not being biased here , I still love many other rod builders rods in terms of looks and will recomend them without hesitation.

Very nice, Congrats on the rod.

Craig's creative and will be able to source most blanks and components.

He built me one of the first slimline purglass blanks, In fact he made that idea happen within a couple of hours after speaking to me, to say I was gobsmacked that he got the owner of purglass to approve his idea for the slimline blank in one meeting, should tell you the man has a fishing brain beyond us mere mortals.

He also built me a light tackle 12ft rod for the surf and langebaan. I suggested a 3.5lb test curve carp blank for the job, other rod builders would have just laughed and suggested a 12ft t24 or t53 blank. Not Craig, he said that is interesting idea and promptly sourced me blank that was excellent value for money.

There was a more expensive one but he suggested the cheaper one due to it being stronger the the high modulous material.

Long story short, I fished laangebaan mostly with this rod and love the expressions I get when I put a 3oz and prawn out of sight with a simple overhead cast, catch stumps on dead low while the other okes are standing with 14ft put poles waiting for a pull.

I love it when the guys chirp me about the guides being to small for a grinder rod and how I am going to lose distance. Lol, check out a grinder rod in 12ft with K series guides and maybe 4lb test curve blank, it will be super light, sensitive and you will be able to throw up to 5 oz.

If you only going 4oz then go for a 3.5lb test curve blank. It makes scratching much more fun and you will get those small spoons much further.

Tell Craig, Scorps said howzit.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Reza, just wish there were more fishermen willing to think out of the box now.

Must say Oom Mike Pautz was very skeptical when I was trying to sell him on the Lo-Rider range of guides but he eventually succumbed but made sure that Rene's rods got the Lo-Riders on as Guinea pigs.

All I have to say is another 3 sets of the Fuji Lo-Riders have since been fitted and not to Rene's rods either....... ::S::S
