mate of mine has refitted his boat and is now ready for survey - any names  / contact numbers of who there is in that area that can do it? Ideally someone who can come to the boat (is currently at the back of the workshop)

You can get the boat certified by Geoff Hawkins, he is in Scarbrough, dont have his phone number but you will find it in the phone book!

Hi Breads, guys like Geoff Hawkins do survey's all over the Western Cape. For example, he'll do Strand(Magson's Marine) on a Friday morning, then Bellville on a THursday, maybe Paarden Island (Waterworls etc) on a Wednesday,.
So just give him a call and ask when he'll be in your area.

Are you talking about Kobus Krokodil? Did some survival courses with him a few years back! Heard that he was attacked by a crocodile years back while he was spearfishing in lake Kariba i think..

Yip,Kobus Krokodil.That's how he got the name.

He has some pics of big kob he has shot at Breede River and a big GT shot at Bassas hanging in his garage.When I had my boat surveyed at the beginning of the year he said he was going to work out on the rigs,also in Angola I think ?

Yeah, i did a course at the survival centre a few months back and i asked the lecturer where he was and he mentioned that he had gone offshore west africa

Firstly get hold of your local SAMSA guys to do the survey. I doesnt have to be done by a certain person! I had a long talk to our local guy who informed me this. The cost is about R350 if I can remember correctly! Also check on the SAMSA site and www.smallcraft.za.net for more info!
