I had a Saltist 4500 on my 11'6 Ultra Light and it was a fantastic combo. I have both Daiwas and Shimis and each manufacturer makes good and bad models. I rate the Saltist as really good value for money.

If you're looking for a robust reel that'll last a long time and take a lot of abuse I strongly suggest saving up a little more and getting a 'gosa. That's an absolute machine of a reel that will give you many years of service.

Agree I use a gosa 6000sw on my paddleski, still no problem after 1 years fishing

Goedkoop is duurkoop. Dis die ding.. Gosa's are lovely, check your line retrieve per crank in a slightly larger size (for all round use) and save a bit more would be the best solution. Good solution would be stradic or saltist, interim work around would be one of the others to use while you save for something that you will love to use later. Depends also on how often you fish, if it is all the time get saving, if it is every now and again then you can do 100% with one of the others, just take care to rinse, look after and service.

Die Saltist is omtrent R2450 vir die 4500 en R2600 vir die 6500

Die saltist het ook die 6.2.1 retrieval speed waarvan Dr Hall gepraat het vir spinning

Gosa is omtrent R3000 afhangende van die size spool

One is an Audi and the other is a Porsche, I'm biased towards Porsche and would take an old 911 over a old A4 anyday so I'll leave the conversation now.. :) Enjoy your new toy whichever it is though. All are capable that you are looking at at the end of the day, reliability, pleasure of use and longevity should be your deciding factors.

Just give it a good service, sure it'll be fine..probably the best. Just when you do get your reel take out the bail trip ramp, this has been a gripe on both my shimmies till I removed them and fishing them became painless and a complete pleasure. If a new 'gosa the dual drag is of the best apparently, the stradic and sustain could do with better drag washers (they might have better ones now) so when mine are fried they will be replaced with carbontex, the drags washers in my penns and finnor are superior hands down I give them that.

Agree 100%. I love my Sustain 5k for it's light weight and smooth retrieval, but I've learnt first hand about the limits of the drag. It's not as great as the tackle store sales people will have you believe, if you hook a 10kg + pelagic on a Sustain 5k from the rocks you're in trouble.
