Hi guys,

I am looking for a inexpensive bilge pump, but a very specific type of bilge pump: it must be a non-submersable pump that runs off the boat battery.

Any ideas where I can get one? I am in the greater Cape Town area.

If it's for a live well. 2 important factors...

1 - Pump must be able to pump minimum 500 Gal/h for a live well to work properly. 1000 Gal for 1 luna tube.

2 - Must draw little amps. The 500 gal/h Rule draws about 5 Amps. Those diaphram pumps are usually heavy on "electricity". Up to 15 Amps. If you run it without motors running, it can drain a battery very quickly.

That pump looks like a deckwash pump. The motor is probably not all that corrosion resistant, so check that out. On small Ski boats they just don't last. They get wet and corrode.

But I must say that R600 is not bad.

Thanks for the info Bennie, all tentative question answered, was concern about Eskom - power usage.
