Hi Guys, Here´s a small report from live aboar

But, after what we had been through a little rain and wind was not going to stop us and we had a three-hour session that morning that again produced some great fish and some more species to add to our tally.

We got another three species of rockcod including this nice Malabar on a big dropshot…

…and another that was almost as big as the jig!!!

Actually Carl was catching all sorts of small different species on his jig, including this exquisite trigger fish!

Again we were bombarded by the awesome fighting bohar snappers and mostly swallow tail rockcods....we released at least two dozen swallowtails...

Another new species we got that morning was a yellow speckled snapper for Doug!!!

Then just before midday I was fishing a small drop shot on a stella 5000 with #20 braid (the same outfit I had been spooled by a GT the previous day) when just as I locked the reel something took it like a freight away train.

After a 25 minute tussle we finally got color…

…and released a 93cm GT.

Not the biggest I caught on the trip but on that tackle probably the most memorable!

Again, even tough the fishing was good we decided to press on, we were having great fun but we come for the big GT´s that the area is known for, so mid afternoon we set course for Pantallon 1, just over an hour away in the big seas.

We had every single weather one can have in a single day and luckily by the time we got to the bank it again settled to a 10 knot brezze. We spent some time sounding the area and caught a few species here and there on some average showings.

But finally we saw a frigate bird circling high above, this could only mean business…

…and fair enough at last underneath it we found a showing on the sounder that looked like real fish!

What followed for the next two hours was the best GT fishing I have ever experienced. For most of the time we were fighting fish, so actual fishing time was much less and we only did 4 drifts over that shoal.

All in all and amongst other species, in that time we released 9 GT´s of which 6 were over an amazing 100 cm.

Ohhh, did I mentioned that we also dropped a couple of sailfish on the poppers during that chaos!!!



Pete was first on and was terrible unlucky to miss two bites and then have tackle failure on the third. But he was rewarded with this nice fish on a red head Rooster…

Seeing all the guys were plugging on the first drift I went down with a big dropshot and was VAS straight away and got this GT, by far the smallest we got in the area.

Amazingly even tough we were fishing between 16 and 22 meters of water we did not get reefed by a single fish.

The Rooster´s and Phantom´s were doing most of the damage…

The most memorable was left for last…

Our last drift started with Pete missing a bite and immediately after hooking one that broke the factory popper swivel…

Then Carl went tight on a big fish that took it right by the boat…

Seconds later Doug has what must be the most impressive GT strike I have ever seen…only a big Marlin can be more impressive!

Two cast later, I also hook up…all of us three hooked up at the same time into fish that were all over a 100 cm!

Carl was the first to bring his for a release at a respectable 108 cm!

I then brought mine, which went 101 cm!
