Hi everyone...

I am not sure if this topic/thread exists elsewhere and apologise if I am duplicating...

I am pleading to all members to please share details and experiences fishing in small streams and rivers. I am looking for Gauteng rivers and streams, but am sure other members will greatly appreciate any info on other parts of the county.

Even if it is a spot under a bridge somewhere, etc. it will be appreciated. For example, I am near the Klein Jukskei river in Midrand, but dont know if it is fishable?

Hi Avil

I see that you want to fish what we can do is that I will send you a P/M the next time I go fishing and you can meet at a spot

As for fishing streems this time of year it is going to be very hard fishing. You are going to have to wate for sumer :) Then I will show you some good spots on the klip river

If you are thinking of going to the klip river you will need a 4x4 and a 9mm I only go to the klip with a mate and he is packing LOL

Have a look at the flyloops web site for fishing spots :)

Thx for the replies Spongebob and Stones...

This is one reason I hardly fish...cos I lack company! That apart from doing my own renovations at home...which also takes up my time...

I just dont like driving to far away places to fish hence i am looking for nearby streams and rivers to fish in...

i also fly fish which i intend to continue with and the finding the right spot also becomes an issue...

i am just plagued with too many problems....lol

I catch lots of barbel in the jukskei in Buccleuch, not too far from midrand. If you can find a section deep enough, there will be fish. They can be caught on fly too. I got one of about 4.5kg on fly today.

If u want to catch fish in the jukskei I've only fished there once but the waters from leeukop prison to lone hill have monster cats use a heavy leader and a 9 weight rod or go to a 2/3 weight for large scale yellows which can be caught there. The lightly hood of u catching is slim much rather try either magalies Barbus Haven Or the river at Brookwood.
