Hi all
I have been reading up on chillers specifically safari and pacific. Do they really justify the amount of money? How do they new chillers found at Makro and other sport shops stack up. Since technology has advanced I think so has the chillers a lot of people say the Cadac 12l and similar will do the job just as well.

Bear in mind I don't have cash just laying around I ask myself do I need to fork out R700 or could the sub R300 chiller work just as good. I also know that the old safari's where of a better quality than the latest ones.

That brings me to the next question where is the cheapest place to buy chillers in Cape Town and surrounds including the West Coast.

Thanks in advance

I just purchased a safari chiller at surburban tackle... 10litre - 550rand... WAS WORTH THE BUCKS!!

Your bait will stay frozen at the end of the trip with 1 icepack in it... thats if you dont keep opening and closing it all the time... I took a whole squid with and took it out at the beach... cut half and closed the chiller... i then left the piece i was using (half of it) in a bucket of water... as it will stay fresh long enough... wen i got hom to check my chokka... it was still frozen...

So...again... thanks to everyone that advised me on the safari chiller... EXCELLENT choice and money well spent...

was Suburban the cheapest when you looked around?

That is correct... the cheapest... suburbans 12litre was 599 (i don't advise it as its narrow) 10litre is best unless you wanna move to bigger than 12litre....

Sportsmans warehouse is about 700 bucks for the 12litre... so thats a whole 100rand more expensive than suburban...

Plus... the service at suburban (that i get) and alot of my good friends get... is GREAT...

When i looked at the box and was about to take it... Marlon checked it out... advised me to be sure that its 100percent and that the lid aint warped... those guys don't just SELL you something... (like some other shops would do just to make money)

Just my opinion on Suburban... great bunch of guys there...

Tight lines and FROZEN bait...lol

Also Check with Big Catch in Paardein Eiland.

They stock both the Safari chiller & the Arctic ice chiller.

Their pricing is reasonable as well + they advertise on this forum.

Fishing Specialist is 9 rand cheaper than suburban.... im still glad i purchased it at suburban...as it woulda costed MORE than 9rand petrol to get to Fishing Specialist... lol... So if you live closer to Fishing Specialist then it would be your best bet... :)

Hi guys Finally decided to go for a safari chiller. The 18l should be fine that way i keep the wife happy too. Anybody bought one recently, just thought I check on here before I start phoning around. I did a price check some time ago but surely those will be outdated.

Maybe you guys know the best current prices.^^..

Feedback would be appreciated...

by the time you finished phoning and driving around it is going to be more expensive than trying to save R50

Haha probably true.

Got one for my xmas present from girlfriend (dont know what she paid :fbash) and really happy with it.I use the 18l for my shark baits but for edibles its a bit big in my opinion unless you wanting to pack in a six pack as well.

I have heard very good reports on them and I am very much interested in them however my time in SA is normally very limited. I will appreciate if you can tell me where to find 'em.
