Which is complete rubbish. There is so much kreef they are now flourishing further and further each year up the southern Cape coast.
M.C.M. has found an easy way out of doing their job. They hoodwink the public by telling them the kreef are threatend. That way they can place more restrictions on us recreationals each year and sell off more quotas to these so called "subsistance fishermen'
The crayfish guys I know are g@tvol. They not gonna play by the rules anymore.

Cray licence can be bought out of season but the rules on the season remain....you just cannot take the stuff out if the season is not open. I have, for years bought my licence a month or two in advance. Also the licence from the previuos year is valid AFAIK, never had an issure with inspectors on that part but don't quote me as a referance as it only hapened once that I got a licence in December and used it the following season again, no fine issued.

Season will more than likely open 15 November as usual! Paternoster here I come!!!

depends where you are kreefing. If its down here in the western cape say from like arniston westward then you only need the WCRL licence but if u going in the Eastern Cape and estwards then you will need the ECRL licence. Just remember the two seasons are opposite

Ek is reg!

Creef are anywhere where there is kelp. Just remember Melkbos to houtbay is a protected area and u will get a criminal record if u caught. I know someone who got prosecuted for it.

Kommekie, cape point reserve, rooiels, pringle bay, are all great spots to dice

u are allowed to dive in melkbos...i dive there every season...it is always packed with divers during the crayfish season

the crayfish reserve starts at the beginning of melkbos to hout bay.you would have to walk quite far along the beach from the fire station parking lot to get to the reserve. i think theres a fence that marks the spot.you can spear all the way along until just before oudekraal.
i cant wait for the wreck at blouberg to break up and make a nice artificial reef. it should have been a bit deeper though.its just inside that brown water that is hugging the shore today.

Hey guys,

The preliminary regulations that came out a few weeks back look far more promising than last year, but STILL nothing has been confirmed.

Will keep you posted...

Hey Guys,

This info is subject to change, but these 2 options are being considered from what I hear.
1) 15 November - 15 Jan everyday
2) 18,19 and 25,26 Nov and then from 1 Dec- 15 Jan everyday then back to the weekends till the Easter weekend (Could be a small gap before Easter).
Obviously we will be hearing soon what the verdict is.

Cheers,
L
