Hey guys,

Had a good day jigging yesterday with Eric from Atlantic Evasion in Dakar, ended up with about 22 or more AJ,s for a half day session.

Ngor Beach..

Was my mates 1st jigging trip (he though jigs were Rapala’s); he got a couple of good fish and was smashed by a steam train….what an introduction to jigging!

Damn that pink AJ pulled like hell; was very disappointed with the photo as it was a big fish and it looks so small in the photo.

Fedu, yeah it is coming on now; you can never rock up in a new place and expect to know every spot right off the bat.

Eric from Atlantic evasion has years of knowledge in this place and he really is the best jigging skipper i have come across; he wont stop looking until he finds the fish and when he does he stays right on top of them.

The company's name is Atlantic Evasion and they operate off the beach at Ngor. A full day fishing is about $550.00 and a half day is $375.00.

The yellowfin tuna fishing is good at the moment as well as marlin; this French guy showed us photos of two yellowfin of over 100-150 lbs and he also caught two blue marlin over 3 days fishing.

If you want to go jigging it is best to go for an afternoon half day as the jigging tends to be better in the afternoon.

Once you have confirmed your travel i can make reservations for the boat for you.

Hey Mark,

Been a while since I have been on Sealine - nice to see you are doing Senegal justice, and catching some good fish!

It does look like a tempting option - I know its popular amongst the French, and the boat prices you mention are not bad.

I am based in Ghana now - looking into options here, but not coming up with much at all - closest option seems Cote D'Ivoire, but now Senegal is also on the list!!

One question - do they catch the bigger tuna consistently, and how common are the big-eye..? Only reason I ask is that do you think targetting the big-eye is feasible fishing multiple days (5-6)....? Almost got my billfish royal slam, and looknig to the tuna slam next - hence the big-eye question.

What is the freshwater fishing like in Senegal..? I am on the shores of the Volta Lake - thus far the fishing has been dissapointing, but there are nile perch, tigerfish etc in the lake...strange...

I believe that big-eye are fairly common over here; i will get propper info from Eric at Atlantic Evasion. I have seen a lot of photos of very big tuna over here and not many small fish around it seems.

Last week the guys got two AJ's in the 30 kilo range so there is definitely some good AJ jigging over here.

The fresh water fishing is extremley good here i think as i have info from people who have fished at Niokolo Koba national park in the South East and they hammered the Tigerfish on fly along with Kafue pike and other species.

I have not heard too many good fishing reports from where you are.

Yes, any info on the big-eye tuna would be much appreciated - as i say, I have seen some articles on Ngor in 'voyage de peche' which i subscribe to as its far and away the best 'adventure fishing' magasine I have seen, but they seem to always focus on billfish..

Guinea Bissau - its definitely on the list - problem is, if all goes to plan, I have a CT trip, Nova Scotia / PEI trip, a Florida or Hawaii trip and a Panama trip planned for the next two years - just need to squeeze a week in somewhere for Senegal - lol..!

Yes, Ghana seems pretty 'fished out' - a shame..but you cant strike it lucky every time I suppose!

One last one - the cubera snapper - can you get them out of Ngor, or only out of the Bijagos camp in G. bissau...?

Red snapper are big business in Guinea Bissau; Eric does get the odd big one in Dakar, but there are many guaranteed tackle busting bruisers in GB. I read an article in that Voyages De Peche by these guys who recently went jigging there and they were cleaned up big time by the snapper.

I have not yet caught any in Dakar as they are heavily fished for by the locals and for some reason or other they only feed at night?
