Here is the pic of the inside of a gold series Trini 50 with the plate about to be fitted.

The group of guys who had their 40/50's done, are now really enjoying the casting of their heavy artillery !

Cheers

Hi Donavan - the Trini DC series was discontinued some time ago, so it will be a 2nd hand option only.

These reels were rather sought after and expensive and I'm unsure how many was sold in this country, so this option might be limited.

It was a rather complex system with a circuit board and "coil" that was "loaded" in the first part or the cast by the energy generated and that energy stores by the coil, would then be used to brake the spool once a specified rpm will be reached.

Google " how does the Shimano Trinidad DC function ?" And you will find the correct info.

Cheers

A well known upcountry rodbuilder, sent me two of his Trini TN Gold Series reels, for service, a few mods and MAG-IT fitment recently.

The reels were well looked after and a pleasure to work on.

Then yesterday, after he went for a testcasting session, he phoned me, with the typical exitement, of someone casting a magged reel for the first time and sent me a pic, of what his Trini TN 40, looks like, when for the first time ever, he was able to cast all the nylon out, with the braided backing starting to show !

Check out the pic below .... the first and shortest of the casts, he made with it !

At first I was very sceptical about this mag thing. After a phone call to Cuban, which ended up to be a call over an hour, the reels was send to him. My trini 40 and 30 gold reels was send for a make over.

Now my perception was always that the looser the spool the further you can cast. My mind was still in two ways about it, but it was too late, the were on their way to CPT.

I received a detailed feedback about how the reels look inside and what was seen, also what was done with regards to the service and why. This was interesting and just shows you the high level of service you get.

So the day arrives, reels are back. Took them to the river for a cast that afternoon. Now this is very interesting. took the trini 30 for a test first. First cast was a slow one, get the line wet and get a feel for the reel. second cast a bit harder. Then I thought, well lets see what this mag stuff is all about. So I pushed it. what a joy, did not have to touch the reel once during the cast, only when it hit the water, mmmmmmmmm can there be sense in this mag madness?
well 15 casts later my distance just kept getting more and more and I tried to smack it in such a way to proof that this mag thing does not work....... impressed with the 30 it was time for the 40. managed to cast it over the years but you tend to hold back a bit.
Well same story. smacked it as hard as I could and the pic above was the first cast. It just got better and better ending up with only 4 turns of mono on the reel as I stopped trying to defeat the mag. What impressed me was that the reel is still smooth and can be left alone till sinker touches the water. for the first time I was able to cast that reel to its full potential, way further then I have ever done.
Hence the call to Cuban, Sir, you did it. you were right. it works. Now for the okes that know me, I test something before I give comments on a product, I am impressed. If you ever have doubts regarding should you mag a reel or not, feel free to give me a call. I am a happy customer.

Cuban thank you, your service on these reels and the mag kits was done truly to perfection. you will deff see my reels again for service.......Time to go fish!!!!
