Hi All,

So I been a member of sealine for a while, not that long compared to the pros, and have picked up a lot. I started fly fishing and for a year I was unsuccessful, always going in without having any bites. The only place i been to was/is Arends Nes. The last time I went fly fishing I was bewildered with excitement, caught like 3 fish. All might have been the size of sardines, but nontheless I was happy.

I wanted to know, if someone who frequents Arends can assist me with the rights and wrongs as i read a lot but dont know if what im doing is right or wrong.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Hi M,

I dont fish there but it doesnt make it any different from the other venues, maybe just different flows and fish population. Anyway, the best way to be succesful on fly is to be able to read water; think like a fish, where the possibilities of food might be or will be coming down. Take note of weathers and the activities of the fish during certain conditions. Also, fish your flies in the most natural way possible in the currents and slow water, immitating the norms when food is available. Practice casting where ever you can and mend your line in the flows to create that most natural drift. I move around alot and try not stick to one spot, move around and find the fish.....take note.

Learn about entomology and fish diets

Stick to this and you will  surely catch fish.
