hello, im not a fisherman but my friend caught this fish this morning at Klein-Brak Southern Cape.

It looks a lot like a Dorado but has a tapered tail. No split tail like a Dorado. It has very huge eyes and the crest is a light salmon color that runs along its entire back. The front of the crest on top of its head is pointed and looks bony.

When caught it also squirted ink from its tail end but there is no scales on the fish. It is smooth and silver. I hope you can help me with this.

unusual fish and catch, well done to angler, read a story once of a small group of guys who caught so a fish by hand in stilbaai's river, remember them saying something like fish could hardly swim or dying so made it easy to catch.

Hi Guys

Did you catch it from a boat or from shore? Did it put up a fight ?

Unusual to see oarfish this close.
