Hi Delwyn.
I build my own rigs and they work out at R15.40/ hooklink.
I use the following materials to tie the anti blowback hooklink.
Hook - R9.50 - Korda Continental
Rig Ring - R1.00 - Any make if as long as im not paying more than R1/ring
Hooklink - R4.80 - Kryston Quicksilver Gold
That amounts to R 15.40 ea. Now for comparison I will add a swivel (R1.90 Anchor Tackle) and a anti tangle sleeve (R3.00 Gardner) This rig for comparison will cost then R22.30 ea and not skimping on any items.
The docks ready made rigs of similar construction with cheaper (dare I say inferior?) materials work out at R23.98 each.
I am capable of tying my own rigs so when I want to replace a rig I re-use swivel, sleeve and ring thus my only cost of a new rig is for hooklink material and a hook so in theory i can change a hooklink after every fish at a cost of R14.30 without compromising by putting a blunt hook or shaved hooklink coating into the water when targeting bigger fish.
By tying your own hooklinks you have a lot of flexibility and can change as the situation requires.
I am sure if we start using cheaper materials say for instance grip hooks, suffix hooklinks we can half the cost of the link and still be better off than the docks shop bought links.
