OH boy you buggered now mate !!yellows love stickbaits orion tropic 150 and wahoo 100 blue/green mackrel work in the canyon as well as flapper 130 . if you hear screams at 35 05 its me getting smoked .

those stick baits look awesome the prices just dont fit my pocket at the moment but i suppose you only need one, or two ,three just in case and a fourth cause that other color looked insane lol
Guys take standard halco, push lip pin out, remove lip glue a shaped lead in the cavity (or use solder) add 2 single hooks and work with an erratic wind and stop. I have had great success with YFT up to 40kg. You can throw easily with spinning reel and braid. dont be afraid to leave lure on top motionless for short periods that is when it gets blasted!!!! I often use in conjunction with baiting or when tuna are feeding on top. For slightly heavier lure grind away plastic lip of floating rap-they are made of wood.

I recently did a Maldives trip and ran out of small stickbaits. The only lure I had left in the size range had a lip, which I cut off. It turned out to be a fish killer!

yes you do have a problem casting from time to time but the extra weight in the front when twitched causes the head to bury and splash and resurface. I have a couple of the Aussie stickbaits which do cast and work well on heavy tackle, but at R300 difference in price a cheaper alternative in some conditions works better. Try casting downwind for better results. Not trying to dis stickbaits just offering cheap alternative. Will post details of Cheap stickbait (R90) when stocks arrive.

The lure I chopped up was a small Shibuki, which has a shifting weight to aid casting. The weight then moves forward on entering the water and is held there by a magnet. I suppose that not having the weight at the back reduces stability and improves action?!
Exactly. The plethora of nylon rear weighted plugs only work for yellowtail and garrick. I have changed the shape of these lures to change the action with great results for these species only (useless on tuna). Absolutely sold on stickbaits. I subscribe to Bluewater mag Aust. articles there where marlin have shown big interest!!!!! Imagine casting lures at free swimming marlin

That would be awesome! I reckon hookups would be few and far between though. I have had sailfish hit a stickbait about 4 times now and not a single hookup. Frustrating to say the least.

We are releasing a new DarkStar Stickbait in July, which has taken a few Billfish recently... the trick is in the hooks set up... alot of guys who target Sailfish in Ropmin Indonesia, which is primarily a casting Sailfish fishery, have done huge amounts of testing into best hook set ups on stickbaits, and most use 2 x Assist hooks, one off the belly, one off the tail, to give themselves the best possible chance of a hook up in the hard mouths..
