What's up Dono!!! All the best for 2014 for mate. Nice fish for starters mate! Are you offshore at the mo? Me....on the big blue.

My question do you often use GT? I check it out, but I have never bought anything list on GT, purely because of all the horror stories - scams ect. I take it, it will be ok if you live in the area of the item you want to buy - thus you can go check it out before any payment. For me it's difficult 50% Brasil 48% Mozambique 2% in SA If I am lucky, just wanting to hear your opinion on GT.

Enjoy!

Howzit Serra! Happy new years to you too, and all the best for 2014 for you too!! Ja i am unfortunatly offshore at the moment, pretty crap to be away from home around now but i am not missing the traffic and mayhem our side one bit and when i get back home everyone will be back at work!

I have also heard many horror stories myself, but so far i have had no bad experiences with Gumtree and found a few nice bargains that did appear too be too good to be true that were legitimate! I have sold two cars, boats and bought a few boats and equipment through GT. There are one or two things that i do follow though, cash is king and won't do any deals with EFT's and i also shy away from people calling me with "dodgy" accents and sob stories etc. I will usually meet the potential buyer at a very public place or at their houses, anyway….. no bad experiences yet (touch wood) although i have come across quite a few scam artists.

@Shakyhead- Thanks, GT seems to be working my side again too!

I've got the same problem, Mozilla, chrome and MSN give me the same screen. I can access Gumtree UK, France, Malasia etc but not SA. I've had numerous discussions with the admin there who initially tried to say it was on my end.

They modified there site so you can only access it from inside South Africa. Pretty stupid if you ask me as all of us that work out the country also sell and buy in country. I'm in Nigeria, I've got less than no chance of getting on with my IP address.

Normal South African narrow mindedness. When you travel, you get used to it, but it's a bitter pill to swallow.

It appears to be working now again for me and i am sitting in Angola. Strange thing is that I never used to be able to reply to ad's when i was out of the country but for the last few months i have had no problems with that.

if you use something like adblock with Chrome or your browser of choice turn it off when accessing the new gumtree site. it is an option you can specify.
