I have tested three groundbaits over the last few months - Supercast's Superfeed, Carp Hunter's Supercatch, Big Daddy Bait's Lemmetjies.
I used a few hundred kilograms of Superfeed over my 5 years of competitive angling and to me back then there was no equal. It worked brilliantly. However, towards the end of 2008 I started having problems with the binding, probably because the feed I bought was old if I looked at how tattered the packaging was. I baught a bag of what looks like fresh Superfeed recently and went fishing. Now the stuff won't break down! I would like to think that I have a fair amount of experience mixing Superfeed and even when mixed so soft that you can't cast it there is a hard ball left and the dam water was very warm. So Superfeed isn't the same it used to be.
Carp Hunter's Supercatch doesn't bind at all. I tried all kind of ways of mixing it but the moment you start putting effort into the cast it comes off. It's a good price and if you are fishing under 50m and casting lightly it can work, but I won't be buying it again.
Big Daddy Bait's lemmetjies binds well. Not in the claimed 45sec but after a few minutes of standing it really binds well. My problem with this feed is that it barely weighs anything. It is really light and the stuff goes floating all over the place and doesn't leave much of a feeding area behind. At R 18.00 per kg it is not THAT bad and if you buy 4kg it works out ok. My bag also had mites in and smelled sour...
I'm honestly not impressed with either of these 3 groundbaits. 1 bag of Superfeed mixed with 1 bag of Lemmetjies might work well, but that smell of lemmetjies really put me off and I don't want my groundbait floating all over the place.
Thought you might find it interesting what I thought of these three products. I would like to hear what your experiences are with these products.
